Ayurvedic food recommends balance of three Doshas for a healthy living. Too light and dry food can increase Vata (air) disturbance, too hot and spicy foods can aggravate Pitta (fire) and excess fatty food can produce heavy Kapha (water) unsteadiness.
Personalized diet: The old saying -one man’s food is poison for the other, is perfectly applicable in ayurveda because each food contains the five elements in different proportions. Ayurvedic food can Improve health, youth ,better memory and Intelligent, more energy, endurance, strength, prevention of disease, cold, flu and other diseases, greater capacity to manage stress and anxiety,
There are some some food to live an Ayurvedic life - choosing foods with balance: Include the six tastes at all main meal: In ayurveda, foods can be realized by tatng all six varities like sour, astringent, salty, bitter, pungent and sweet. The main meal should be taken between 11 and 1 in the afternoon. The general arrangement of North America tend to be too sweet, sour and salty and not enough of the bitter, pungent and astringent taste. Ayurvedic healers recommend including all tastes of the six principal at each meal you eat. Everyone has a taste balancing capability appetite and digestion.
Choose foods by balancing physical attributes: A balanced meal should contain some foods from each physical type. Under this general principle you can vary the proportions of each type according to your constitution needs and balance and the season of the year and where you live. In ayurveda, foods are classified as heavy or light, creamy or dry, hot or cold (temperature).
To balance Kapha try more light dry and warm food. To maintain balance of Vata dosha choose heavier or liquid and hot food and less dry, light or cool food. To help the balance of Pitta focus more on the fresh heavy and dry foods. During the summer soothing foods help to maintain balance of Pitta dosha. If you live in a cool climate you can have hot food. During winter try to consume nourishing scandals, fresh paneer, hot soups, cheese and Whole milk in the diet.
Choose foods that are sattvic: tasmasic food develops lethargy and are regarded as a restraint to spiritual growth. Sattvic food is always uplifting still have a stabilizing effect, and rajasic foods stimulate may worsen some aspects of the mind, body and heart. Thus ayurvedic foods are consumed by the effect they have on physical and mental aspect.
Including some sattvic foods at each meal help to promote clear mind and thoughts, balance and coordination of the functioning of the body, mind, heart and senses. Almonds, rice, honey, fresh fruit , mung beans and easily digestible vegetables and seasonal sattvic leafy vegetables are examples of foods.
